Presidency Pro-tempore

The Presidency Pro-tempore (PPT) of SICA is the role assumed by a SICA Member State to coordinate, represent and support SICA Member States and SICA organs and institutions for the continued advancement of the regional integration process. The PPT is rotated every six months in geographical order as established in Presidency Pro-tempore Regulation of SICA. The rotation begins with Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panamá. An Associate Member or Observer State of SICA cannot assume the PPT of SICA.

In the event that a SICA Member State cannot assume the PPT due to a justifiable reason during its corresponding period, the member state that follows in the order of precedence will assume the PPT.

The Member State that was unable to assume the PPT can request in writing to SICA´s Executive Committee seeking the approval of the Council of SICA´s Ministers of Foreign Affairs to assume the PPT in the immediate aftermath of the current PPT.
