First meeting of the Executive Committee of SICA under the Presidency Pro Tempore of Belize

San Salvador, El Salvador, August 28, 2014: For the first time under the Presidency Pro Tempore of Belize, the 36th Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Central American Integration System (CE-SICA) was held in order to propitiate greater interaction between agencies of the body as well as to monitor the priority areas of work for the second half of this year.

During the day, the Commissioners of the member countries and the Secretary General of SICA, Dr. Victoria Marina Velasquez de Aviles, agreed to continue efforts to follow up on the roadmap of the Committee, emphasizing the priorities outlined by the Presidency Pro Tempore of Belize. They also congratulated the work of the officials of the Monitoring Committee and the Legal Team of the foreign ministries, who have been working in political and legal matters that are competent to CE-SICA.

The Secretary General, for her part, encouraged them to continue efforts so that the Secretariats of the System and the same Committee continue sharing and coordinating actions jointly "I am sure that the results of this session will be a source of ideas, proposals, and agreements to further advance the integration process,” she affirmed.

The meeting was also attended by the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and representative of the Presidency Pro Tempore of Belize, Mr. Alexis Rosado; the Vice Foreign Ministers Mr. Alejandro Solano Ortiz of Costa Rica, Mr. Carlos Alfredo Castaneda of El Salvador, Mr. Carlos Raul Morales of Guatemala, Mr. Roberto Ochoa Madrid of Honduras, Mrs. Gilda Bolt of Nicaragua, Mr. Luis Miguel Hincapie of Panama, and Mr. César Dargam Espaillat of the Dominican Republic
