Belize transfers the Presidency Pro Tempore of CENPROMYPE to Guatemala

On this day, the Government of Belize, through its institution represented in the Directing Council of the Regional Center for the Promotion of Micro and Small Enterprises (CENPROMYPE), Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE), handed over the Presidency Pro Tempore of the regional body to the Government of the Republic of Guatemala, represented by its MIPYME Vice Ministry, from the Ministry of Economy of this country.

Mr. Michael Singh, Executive President of BELTRAIDE presented the report on results of the management by Belize for the period 2013-2014, in which he highlighted the formulation of the new Strategic Plan of CENPROMYPE 2014-2018, the construction of the Regional Strategy to Stimulate Entrepreneurship (Strategy EMPRENDE SICA), the advances in the regionalization and articulation of the SBDC model in the SICA region, the consolidation of the model of knowledge management, and the actions taken to promote the use of the regional market of the MIPYME.

In addition, Mr. Singh thanked his counterparts in the region for support in the management by Belize, as well as strategic partners for contributing to the execution of the MIPYME Regional Agenda coordinated by CENPROMYPE with the countries of Central America and the Dominican Republic.

For his part, Mr. Siegfried Lee, MIPYME Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy of Guatemala, pledged to follow up on the priorities defined by the countries and thanked Belize for the management in the past two years.

The act of transfer of the Presidency of CENPROMYPE was attended by Dr. Victoria Marina de Avilés, Secretary General of the Central American Integration System (SICA), who congratulated Belize for the excellent results during its tenure, and stated that the MIPYME play a fundamental role in the economy of the SICA region, of which she reiterated her support to continue boosting the sector.

Likewise, Mrs. Celie Paz, Ambassador of Belize in El Salvador, Mr. Luis Rolando Torres, Ambassador of the Republic of Guatemala in El Salvador, and strategic partners of CENPROMYPE were present for the handover of the Presidency and acknowledged the results achieved in this period.
