Best Practices Project

Project "Promotion of the Relationship between the Republic of China and Friendly countries through transfer of Best Practices."

Even though the Central American countries have received international cooperation, they have acquired enriching experiences in the fields of technology and development that give them comparative advantages with other regions; furthermore, all the Central American countries have formed expert teams that can improve certain areas in which they have more advantages in terms of knowledge and techniques.

The idea of this project is to identify the technical expertise that the countries of the region have and enable them to offer their services to the other countries of Central America so that there is an exchange of specific areas of expertise in each country. As a result, support will be provided in horizontal cooperation based on the agreements reached in the Buenos Aires Declaration of 1978, in which a call is made to strengthen technical assistance between countries with equal development level in order to lower the international cooperation transition costs in favor of developing countries.

Our friends of the Republic of China in Taiwan will help us with resources from their cooperation so that this Central American ideal of exchanging technical assistance among countries becomes a reality. Therefore, SICA General Secretariat encourages the countries of the region to send their offers for best practices in their areas of expertise to contribute to the development and regional integration objectives of Central America .

The "Best Practices" project was approved in the context of the Meeting of the Republic of China-Central America Development Fund held in Taipei , on December 12, 2003, for a total of US$1,500,000.00.
