Re-launch the regional integration process

On 20th July 2010, Heads of State and Government of the SICA Member States, agreed to re-launch the regional integration process

During the Extraordinary Summit of Central American Integration System (SICA) held in San Salvador, El Salvador on 20th July 2010, Heads of State and Government of the SICA Member States, agreed to re-launch the regional integration process by proactive action in five major priority areas:

In the corresponding declaration, SICA Heads of State and Government, reafirmed their commitment to the regional integration process, defined in Protocol of Tegucigalpa to  the Charter of the Organization of Central American States (ODECA, by its Spanish acronym), as well as towards the democratic institutions and respect of human rights in its internationally recognized dimension.

At the same time, Heads of State and Government approved an Action Plan to provide technical and policy guidelines towards the re-launching of the regional integration process. In this regards, Heads of State and Government, instructed to the Council of SICA Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Executive Committee, to work in coordination with the General Secretariat of SICA to develop immediately, the necessary actions.
