Central American Commission for Environment and Development (CCAD)

Constitutive Agreement
During the Central American Presidents Summit held in San Isidro de Coronado, Costa Rica, on December 10, 11 and 12, 1989, the presidents of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua signed the Constitutive Agreement of the Central American Commission for Environment and Development (CCAD).

The highest authority is the Council of Ministers of the Central American Commission for Environment and Development (CCAD) and is composed of representatives of the Environment authorities.

Value and protect the natural wealth through optimum and reasonable use of the resources and contamination control.

Its scope of action is the following:
-Strengthening of the national authorities and regulations
-Harmonization of policies and legislations
-Distribution of information
-Determination of priority action areas
-Promotion of a participatory, democratic and decentralized environmental management.
