XX EEP Regional Forum on Renewable Energies

The Forum is organized by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Nicaragua (MARENA), the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Nicaragua (MEM) in conjunction with the General Secretariat of the Central American Integration System (SG-SICA) and the Central American Commission on Environment and Development (CCAD) through the Energy and Environment Partnership with Central America (EEP) supported by the cooperation of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, the Austrian Development Cooperation and the European Union.

The Forum will take place from November 21st to 22nd, 2012, in the Barceló Hotel located in Managua, Nicaragua. The event will bring together government Officials from the Ministries of Energy and Environment from the Central American System for Integration (SICA) countries, international and regional institutions, NGO’s, academics, and private sector from Central America, Europe and others.

The event aims to promote the sustainable development opportunities in the region, through the use of bioenergy from agricultural residues, as well as the rational use of firewood; contributing to preserve the environment for clean energy generation for self-sufficiency in the companies and homes, which results in their basic costs reductions. Also, will be presented the achievements and progress in other kinds of renewable energies projects supported by the EEP, and promote networking among participants.
